2. Appearance: Hydrogen fluoride solution, clear, colorless, fuming corrosive liquid, with violent pungent smell, density 1.15 g/mL at 25°C(lit.)
Storage: Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. The storage temperature shall not exceed 30℃, and the relative humidity shall not exceed 85%. Keep the container sealed. It shall be stored separately from alkali, active metal powder and glass products, and mixed storage shall not be allowed.
Purpose:
Hydrofluoric acid plays an important role in the purification of aluminum and uranium because of its ability to dissolve oxides.
Hydrofluoric acid is also used to etch glass. It can engrave patterns, mark scales and words;
The semiconductor industry uses it to remove oxides on the silicon surface. In oil refineries, it can be used as a catalyst for the alkylation of isobutane and n-butene. Hydrofluoric acid will also be used in the "acid leaching" process to remove oxygen-containing impurities on the stainless steel surface.
Hydrofluoric acid is also used in the synthesis of a variety of fluorine-containing organic compounds, such as Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene) and Freon refrigerants.

In industry, hydrofluoric acid is prepared by heating potassium hydrofluoride to 500 ℃ for thermal decomposition or heating fluorite (calcium fluoride CaF2) and concentrated sulfuric acid to 700℃.
