Sodium chlorate is a inorganic compound, chemical formula is NaClO3, usually white or yellowish equiaxed crystal, salty and cool in taste, easily soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. In acidic solutions, it has strong oxidation and decomposes above 300 ℃ to produce oxygen. Sodium chlorate is unstable. When mixed with phosphorus, sulfur, and organic matter and subjected to impact, it is prone to combustion and explosion, and is prone to moisture absorption and agglomeration. In industry, it is mainly used to produce chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorous acid, perchlorate and other chlorates.
Heating to above 300 ℃ under atmospheric pressure is prone to decomposition and release of oxygen. In neutral or weakly alkaline solutions, the oxidation force is very low, but in acidic solutions or in the presence of induced oxidants and catalysts (such as copper sulfate), it is a strong oxidant. Reacting with acids (such as sulfuric acid) to release chlorine dioxide, which has strong oxidizing properties. Mixing with sulfur, phosphorus, and organic matter or being impacted can easily cause combustion and explosion. Easy to deliquescence.
Application:
1. It is a mordant and oxidant used in printing and dyeing industry and inorganic industry.
2. For manufacturing chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorous acid and perchlorate.
3. It is a herbicide used in agriculture.
4. The pharmaceutical industry is used to manufacture medicinal zinc oxide and sodium dithiosuccinate. The pigment industry is used to manufacture advanced zinc oxide and Hualan.
5. It is a bleaching agent used for papermaking, tanning, and ore processing.
6. Used for extracting bromine from seawater and manufacturing printing inks, explosives, etc.
7. Used for the determination of silica, nutrients, and adhesives.
